Little importance to feelings, emotion and love was paid. Presenting the example of Lomov and Chubukov family, Chekhov shows how that land owning class used to enjoy their life by possessing wealth and hunting. They were sober and gentle, but they did not hesitate to abuse one another on any disputed argument over the issues of
property and even dogs. [123 words ]

[The Proposal
Ans Chekhov’s The Proposal is definitely a delightful play. It offers fun and farce around a marriage proposal.

The maid concerned unknowingly engages herself into an unwelcomed confrontation with him on petty issues like the ownership of a parcel of land and the possession of a better dog. Of course, the marriage finalized ultimately after much abusive words are hurled and nervous cries and fainting sighs are heard.
The whole situation in the play and behavioural attitude (ব্যবহারগত দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি) of the characters are, indeed, interesting and amusing. But the dramatist objective is serious and instructive (শিক্ষামূলক). He exposes here what is hollow and silly in the society presented in the play.
